ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT THWARTED!!!

The other day, it was calmly announced on the radio and SOME television stations that the KKK was caught about to carry out an assassination plot, beginning with beheading 80something kids in a high school and shooting or hanging 14 others (they said the numbers were spiritual to them), and then while the media was paying attention to that, the actual target was going to be Obama. It didn't say who found out about this, but it makes me feel very comforted that Obama will be safe. It also makes me think that this may have an unexpected result of pushing people who are closet racists or openly racist to NOT want to be associated with those crazy people and perhaps they will deliberately vote for Obama because they want to show that America is DIFFERENT from the old days. At least, I hope so. What do you think?

One minor correction--I think the potential killers we "Neo-Nazis." I think that's basically someone who would join the Klan if they were sober enough to make the meetings. I know that all losers look the same to casual observers, but those of us in the social sciences spend out time sorting out the different species at the bottom the evolutionary ladder.

I do hope that there is a "reverse Bradley" effect with voters jumping to Obama to counter bigotry and show that they want nothing to do with those political dinosaurs.

Darrin, your response is so funny. No, they are friends in South Korea. I love people all over the world. Even the South Koreans were hoping Obama would be elected. It would be a TOTAL SHAME on America if any assassination attempt made it through the body guards. Total shame!!! Let's all hope this president makes it and stays alive a LONG time to come!!!!!!

I have total faith in the American system of protecting our presidents and other famous people. Haven't they learned their lessons from J.F.K., Dr. M.L.K, Jr., etc? I'm confident that even REGULAR people would jump in front of Obama in that case to save his life. That's how much people feel connected, already, with this new president.
